Pre & Post Care
Prep for Eyebrows:
Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face/skin Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to treatment Do not work out the day of the procedure. Do not have botox 2 weeks prior Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners) Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days before the procedure. In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit: Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo Do not consume coffee or any caffeine before your procedure Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood) Now that you know what NOT to do, it’s time to share my secret recipe for amazing PMU results! I love a good acronym so here’s one to help you out, just think of A - W - M which stands for Absorb, Wash, Moisturize!
Lip Blush Prep:
Please BRING your choice of lip color / lip tint. Keep in mind it should be a "blush" color that meant to enhance your natural lip color, NOT a lipstick! Suggestion: You can find and try different lip tint colors at Sephora or Ultra and bring that color to us. It will help simplify color finding process at the appointment. 24 Hours Prior: NO alcohol, Caffein, Ibuprofen, or Aspirin. 1-2 Days Prior: Exfoliate your lips. This is very important in order to help color absorbs better. Use any gentle exfoliation products or methods such as brown sugar paste. Keep your lips super moisturized with Vaseline. The softer and less dry, the better. Dry/cracked lips have a harder time taking in pigment, it is also more painful. NO fish oil ***ATTENTION: If you have history of cold sore (even once anytime in the past), make sure to get doctor's prescription of Valtrex and take the medication 2 days prior and after to the procedure. Cold sore comes back due to any stress on the lip area, meaning Lip blush will trigger it again. Do not take this lightly as it will more likely come back because you have had cold sore in your system. 1 Week Prior: Stop taking blood thinning supplements such as Fish oil and Vitamin E. If you plan on getting Lip Fillers before the procedure, please do so 3-4 weeks prior. If you plan on getting Lip Fillers after the procedure, please wait for 8 weeks for color to completely settle. When To Receive Lip Filler PRIOR to Lip Blush: Small, thin or hidden Lips: It would be more beneficial to receive Lip Filler prior to Lip Blush so that, the lips are more plumped and more visible for us to deposit pigment. Wrinkled Lips: Lip filler will help smooth out the lines which, will help with healing of Lip Blush. Pigment tends to get stuck in the wrinkles and may heal more pigmented (i.e. stripes). Significant asymmetry: Lip filler helps to improve the symmetry with plumpness and Lip Blush helps to balance it out further more. Want to increase in size of lips: It is best to get Lip Filler first, as this will plump the lips therefore increases the volume. Then, Lip Blush will blend the outer vermilion border into the lip tissue, making them look more real and avoiding that duck-look as oppose to just filler alone. EXPECTIONS: Lips are the most tender area surrounded by delicate mucous membrane. We do numb the area before and during the procedure. However, you would still feel a little sensation but bearable. Swelling right after the treatment is completely normal. Don't be alarmed! This will go down within the next hours. If you ice them, they go down even faster. Bright color like red lipstick within the first few days is completely normal. After peeling is over, it is completely normal for the lips to look very pale and somewhat uneven. Don't be alarmed! The pigment will continue to show and even themselves out within the next 7 weeks. If you have melanin lips, you may also experience hyperpigmentation (look even darker) or hypo pigmentation (look light in certain parts). Don't be alarmed! The melanin and pigment will eventually blend into each other within the next 7-8 weeks. Sometimes, third touch up may be needed depending on how dark the original lips are. After 24 hours, it is ok to gently wash your brows with a gentle cleanser or baby soap. Please wipe in the direction of hair growth. Pat dry and do not scrub the brows. If you have normal to dry skin, Apply aquaphor morning, noon and night. If your skin is oily, apply aquaphor twice a day. This is important to add moisture to the skin to avoid excessive scabbing. Apply aquaphor until brows are healed. It is ok to gently was your brows daily to keep good hygiene. DO NOT stand facing the shower head during the healing process. Avoid excessive water exposure. DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate. Picking can cause infection, scarring or pigment loss. Avoid pools, sauna steam rooms, hot showers and hot baths for 3 weeks. Avoid excessive sweating for the first 3 days. Keep hair bangs pulled back and away from the treated area especially the first 48 hours post procedure. Do not use makeup or anti-aging skincare products on the treated area until the brows are healed. No facials, laser treatments, chemical treatments and microbdermabrasions for 4 weeks. Do not use any Retin-A, Glycolic, alpha hydroxy acids, hydrocortisone or benzyl peroxide products on the brow area to prolong the pigment retention. Use sunscreen after 7 days of healing. Keep brows out of the sun to avoid fading. Day 1-2 The eyebrows are approximately 40% darker and bolder than they will be once they are healed. Your skin will be pink or red under the pigment which will cause the color of the pigment to look much darker. Redness and swelling will subside gradually. Eyebrows might start to itch and may appear to look much thicker in texture. Day 4-5 The skin’s dead cells will begin to flake and peeling might begin around the edges of the brows.Scabbing exfoliating will begin. Once this happens, pigment may seem as though it may be gone. New skin still needs to heal. And pigment is pushed down to the deeper layer. Day 6-10 Color will finish flaking off and appear patchy and much lighter and softer. Allow for the color to fully develop. Allow skin to heal to retain pigment. Pigment will then become darker and settle back into the skin. Day 30+ Sunbathing, solarium, light therapies, chemical peelings, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, creams that contain regeneration factors.Always avoid laser treatments over the treated area (Fraxel laser, IPL), because they can destroy the pigment and cause burns. Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to a faster pigment fading. Always protect the eyebrows from the sun with SPFs (not during the first 7 days) A touchup sessions is recommended 6-8 weeks after your Eyebrow Microblading session to touch up any loss of color. Client is responsible for scheduling their appointment. If apportionment is not scheduled by client or client misses appointment they will lose the special touch up rate.
Eyeliner Prep:
There are a few things you need to avoid before your eyeliner tattoo appointment: Do not dye or lift your eyelashes for at least 2 days before your procedure (some artists advise as long as 2 weeks). If you have eyelash extensions, have them removed at least 3 days before your procedure. Inform your PMU artist if you’ve had any eye surgery or intervention in the area (Botox, filler, laser eye surgery, etc.). Avoid taking the following for at least 3 days before your treatment: aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin, coumadin, fish oil, vitamin E. Don’t drink alcohol at least 24 hours before the procedure. Don’t drink caffeine 24 hours before the procedure – you’ll bleed more. Wash your hair that morning – you can’t get your healing tattoo wet for the next few days. Bring sunglasses to wear home as your eyes may be sensitive to light after the treatment. Relax! It’s not actually as scary as you might think. Note: You won’t be able to wear contact lenses during the procedure and for the next 24 hours.
Eyebrow Aftercare:
For 1 hr post appointment, blot brows with a clean tissue to remove lymph. If the oozing dries on brows, it’ll create massive scabs, and the brows will peel and flake like crazy! Within a few hours post appointment, wash your brows with the aftercare soap provided with aftercare kit. ▪️Wash hands ▪️Get TINY bit of soap and some water OUTSIDE OF SHOWER ▪️Wash gently in direction of hair. It’s a LIGHT swipe, just to help remove excess oil, oozing etc. ▪️RINSE THOROUGHLY. Cup hands with water and rinse to make sure all soap is removed. ▪️Pat dry with clean paper towel ▪️Apply balm (TINY AMOUNT, NOT GOOPY) ▪️Wash morning and night for 10 days Apply balm morning and night for 10 days. RICE GRAIN amount will cover BOTH brows. NOT rice grain on each. (Left over balm can be used again for your follow up perfecting appointment) No getting them wet other than washing OUTSIDE of shower. This includes shower, sweating, sauna, hot tub, ETC. No direct sunlight for 2 weeks. Use sunscreen after 7 days of healing. Keep brows out of the sun to avoid fading. NO MAKEUP, LOTION, FACE WASH, SERUMS. SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER Etc. can touch them for two whole weeks. After that, avoid all products on them that include active ingredients (acne or anti aging products) NO picking or scratching at scabs. DO NOT sleep on face! Picking can cause infection, scarring or pigment loss. DO NOT stand facing the shower head during the healing process. Avoid excessive water exposure. Avoid pools, sauna steam rooms, hot showers and hot baths for 3 weeks. Avoid excessive sweating for the first 3 days. Keep hair bangs pulled back and away from the treated area especially the first 48 hours post procedure. No facials, laser treatments, chemical treatments and microbdermabrasions for 4 weeks. Lip Blush Aftercare:
First 1 Week: Avoid hot food / drink directly touching the lips. You can still eat/drink them, just don't let them directly touching the lip tissues. Heat will make pigment peel off quick. Use straws if you need to. Be careful when you brush your teeth with toothpaste as well. Toothpaste has fluoride. Apply the given ointment MULTIPLE times a day with new q-tips each time. Do not use your finger to prevent any bacteria that can lead to infection. First 2-3 days, lips will feel very dry and tight. 4th day: the lips start to peel off. This is when the chapped lips feel the strongest. After crust has peeled off, the lips look VERY pale like there is no color left. This is completely normal, the color will reappear in the next few weeks. Continue to use Vaseline 2-3 times/day for the next 7-8 weeks. If you want to wear lipstick, ALWAYS remember to put a thin base of Vaseline. Do not let lipstick directly applied to new lip tissue. Final result cannot be judged after 2 months.
Eyeliner Aftercare:
Upon finishing the procedure, you will be instructed to clean the tattoo area frequently in the first 24 hours in order to remove the lymph. Otherwise, the lymph will turn to scabs, which can affect pigment retention. Lymph drainage is totally normal and expected after any permanent makeup procedure. The basic aftercare instructions are: Don’t get your eyeliner tattoo wet for the next 7-10 days. This does not mean you shouldn’t clean the area, only that you should protect the area during showers, and avoid swimming, saunas, steam baths, and activities that cause excessive sweating. Don’t use make-up on or near the area for 7-10 days, until your skin is completely healed. You’ll need to remove the makeup, and harsh cleansers and rubbing can affect pigment retention. Don’t touch, rub or pick any of the scabs or dry skin that you might see on your eyelids. Everyone’s skin is different, so the amount of scabbing varies. Don’t sleep on your face. Don’t get any facials, peels, Botox or fillers for at least 4 weeks. There is no actual downtime after the treatment, so you can carry on with your day, but don’t be surprised if you experience some swelling and redness.
